DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say charges have been filed against a Muscatine man who they say was distracted by a toy while driving, leading to an accident that left two dead.
Brandon S. Reddick is charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle and two counts of serious injury by vehicle in connection with the Feb. 15 crash on U.S. 52 near Dubuque.
In a complaint unsealed Wednesday, Reddick is accused of steering with his knees while playing a McDonald's Happy Meal video game toy. The vehicle drifted over the center line and collided head-on with another car, killing two passengers and seriously injuring the driver. A passenger in Reddick's car was seriously injured.
The 20-year-old Reddick was arrested Tuesday night in Marshalltown. The Marshall County sheriff's department says Reddick was freed on a $15,000 bond.
