IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa Police Department has received its second report of a dorm invasion within the last week.
According to a media release from the UI police, a report was received on Sunday, Nov. 13, about a resident of west side dorm waking up to the sound of a person entering his or her room. The incident happened at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, according to the release, and the dorm resident reported first thinking the dorm's door was locked but later finding it was not.
The resident reported some property had been taken which prompted the call to the police. Once there, officers could find no sign of forced entry, according to the release.
This report follows another incident shared by UI police of a Nov. 10 dorm incursion by an unknown man in an east-side dorm. UI Police say they strongly encourage all residence hall occupants to lock their doors at all times and to report suspicious activity immediately by calling 9-1-1.
The UI Police Department is also asking for anyone with information about this or other incidents to contact them at (319) 335-5022, or to submit anonymous crime tips by using the Hawk Watch app.
