UnityPoint-St. Luke’s opening new ER in Marion
Open house is Saturday, with emergency roo opening Aug. 6

MARION -- UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital is opening a new 24/7 emergency room in Marion on Aug. 6, with two community events at the new facility this coming weekend.
St. Luke’s ER team members, board members and administrators will be joined by Marion Chamber of Commerce members will be at the new ER, at 3301 Armar Dr. off First Avenue East, for a ribbon-cutting at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 26.
A community open house will be held Saturday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with tours, refreshments and giveaways.
St. Luke’s Marion ER will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year and staffed by board-certified emergency medicine providers from East Central Iowa Acute Care (which currently serves St. Luke’s Cedar Rapids ER) along with nurses, patient care technicians, and other health care professionals.
Like any hospital emergency department, St. Luke’s Marion ER is equipped to treat patients with illnesses and injuries that require a higher level of care than urgent care clinics offer.
The new Marion ER will have the same emergency care services at those offered at St. Luke’s Hospital, 1026 A Ave. NE; features; 12 treatment rooms; advanced imaging for diagnostics and testing, including CT, X-ray and ultrasound; and an on-site laboratory.
“We are excited for our Marion ER to open and want the community to stop out and see where it is, take a tour and meet some of the St. Luke’s team members who will be working there,” Dr. Sarah Hoper, UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital Marion ER medical director, said in a news release. “It’s a wonderful facility, and we look forward to expanding our scope of care by opening this ER in Marion.”
