UnityPoint Clinic will expand in southwest Cedar Rapids next year with the planned separation of its family medicine and urgent care clinics.
The existing building at 2375 Edgewood Rd. SW will become a dedicated urgent care clinic. A new building planned west of Menards on Williams Boulevard SW will house the family medicine clinic.
UnityPoint Family Medicine Clinic will offer services including X-ray, outpatient physical and occupational therapy, and laboratory services by MedLabs.
The new clinic will bring together the providers at UnityPoint Corridor and Westside Family Medicine. Five new providers also will be recruited for a total of 12.
In a news release, Dr. John Roof, vice president and UnityPoint Clinic Cedar Rapids medical director, said that the company experienced continuing growth in southwest Cedar Rapids.
'In addition to expanding and offering new services to the area, we've also made a concerted effort to separate our urgent care and family medicine clinics so our patients don't have to share the same waiting room,” Roof said. 'This ultimately reduces the spread of illnesses and offers a better patient experience.”
UnityPoint will break ground for the new building next spring, with an anticipated opening in the spring of 2017.
