UPDATE: A Linn County Jail inmate who was being uncooperative caused inmates to stay locked in their cells longer than usual Thursday.
Jail staff told jail visitors the facility was in “lockdown” around 1 p.m., and that no visits would be allowed until operations were back to normal. She refused to provide more information to a SourceMedia Group reporter at the jail.
Sheriff Brian Gardner said the jail actually goes into lockdown three times each day, during lunch hours and overnight. Because staff was busy dealing with the uncooperative inmate, the cells were not unlocked at the normal time.
Gardner indicated the issue was minor, and there were no injuries. Visitations resumed by 2 p.m.
