University of Iowa defensive back Jordan “Morris” Bernstine pleaded guilty to a public intoxication charge in Johnson County District Court Wednesday, July 14, according court documents.
Bernstine had pleaded not guilty earlier this summer to the charge that is connected to a June 5 incident that occurred at Vito's, 118 E. College St, in Downtown Iowa City. He was penalized with a $195 fee.
Iowa running back Jewel Hampton pleaded guilty in June to a public intoxication charge stemming from the same incident, according to Iowa court documents. Hampton also received a citation for being in a bar illegally after hours, a result of Iowa City's new 21-only ordinance that went into effect June 1. The ticket carries a $735 tag.
