UAY to host youth art sale on Friday

IOWA CITY - United Action for Youth will host a Holiday Art Sale this Friday.

The sale, which will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Swaim Youth Center, 335 Iowa Ave., will include art work made by local youth.

'The holiday sale is an opportunity for youth to sell their artwork to community members and gain confidence in themselves as artists and individuals,” UAY art staff member Lauren Linahon said in a news release.

All proceeds from the event go directly to the artists.

The upcoming event also has area artists excited.

'I get to get paid for something I like and doing new things is always fun,” UAY attendee Jace Halter said in the release. 'I heard about it last year, and I thought it would be cool to do this year.”

UAY opened its doors in 1970 to provide support and opportunities for teenagers and parents in Johnson County.
