U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra offered praise for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a statement Friday morning.
The Republican from Hull, who is exploring a run for governor and has been collecting endorsements, commended the arrest of an alleged MS-13 gang leader in Council Bluffs this week.
“I commend the Trump administration and our brave ICE agents for arresting a violent MS-13 gang leader in Council Bluffs," Feenstra said in the statement.
ICE made two arrests Wednesday in the Omaha area, and the Omaha World-Herald confirmed one of the arrests took place in Council Bluffs.
The federal agency hasn't released the alleged MS-13 suspect's name, citing an ongoing investigation. ICE said the suspect — who it described as a "kingpin" — is wanted in El Salvador for aggravated homicide of five victims, attempted aggravated homicide, deprivation of liberty, and terrorist organization affiliation, the World-Herald reported.
"This criminal — who is on El Salvador’s 100 Most Wanted Fugitives list and is guilty of five murders — was let into our country through the Biden administration’s dangerous open border," Feenstra said in the statement. "I’m grateful to President Trump for locking down our border and thank ICE for capturing this vicious MS-13 gang leader. Violent illegal immigrants will be detained and deported.”
