Two suspects sought in Iowa City assault

Police are looking for two men suspected of assaulting a man early Friday morning on an Iowa City street.

According to reports, two men were arguing with a third man in the 700 block of S. Gilbert St. at about 3:50 a.m. today when one of the suspects struck the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground. The two men then struck the victim repeatedly in the face before witnesses pulled the suspects from the victim. The suspects then fled the area.

The victim was taken to University Hospital with facial fractures.

The suspects are described as white men with muscular builds and dark hair. One wore a white shirt and the other wore a torn black t-shirt.

Iowa City is asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call 356-5272.
