Two seriously hurt in crash near Atkins

Two people suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash Sunday night.
The accident happened around 8 p.m. Sunday near Atkins. The Linn County Sheriff's Office says Daniel Bailey, 23, was driving southbound on Linn-Benton Road when he lost control of his vehicle. The car traveled through a ditch, then 50 feet into a farm field before rolling.
Bailey and his passenger, Anthony Whitson, 21, both of Cedar Rapids, were taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The crash remains under investigation.
