Two women were injured in a Friday afternoon traffic accident southwest of Central City when a car hit the back of a Linn County street sweeper.
Mary Peck, 71, of Central City, was traveling west on Central City Road when her car collided with the westbound street sweeper, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
Peck and a passenger, Karen Hawthorn, 52, of Central City, were taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff's Office reported. Another passenger, Joseph Hawthorn, 49, of Central City, was uninjured.
The women were being evaluated at St. Luke's, where no condition report was immediately available.
The driver of the street sweeper, Jeffrey Frasher, 54, of Troy Mills, also was not injured.
The Sheriff's Office said Peck and Hawthorn, who was riding in the front-seat passenger, were wearing safety belts. Karen Hawthorn, riding in the back seat, was not wearing a safety belt, the office said.
