Road conditions were a factor in a seven-vehicle pile-up Monday morning on Interstate 380, police said.
Two people were hurt in the crash, which happened around 7:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-380, just north of Highway 30. Police said the injuries were minor.
According to the police report, a cars driven by Donald Plamondon, 64, of Independence, and Thomas Malcom, 62, of Cedar Rapids, spun out and collided with one another. Both vehicles slid into the median and Malcom's car hit the guardrail.
A sport-utility vehicle driven by Carla Long, 33, of Cedar Rapids, tried to slow down, but also lost control and hit another car and pickup. The pickup then collided with a semi. Another SUV was also struck in the pile-up.
Long and a passenger in her vehicle, Aieshi Pledge, 30, of Cedar Rapids, were both taken to Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.
Traffic backed up in both directions of the interstate, and didn't return to normal for about 90 minutes. At least two cars wound up in the median.
No charges were filed against any of the motorists, Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said.
