Two hurt in fire at Marion apartment complex

MARION - Two people were taken to hospitals after a fire at a Marion apartment complex Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to a three-story complex at 121 Southview Drive at 6:02 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release. The first crew arrived at 6:06 a.m. and immediately helped a fire victim on the second floor, who was taken to a hospital. Cedar Rapids firefighters were called to help at the scene, and rescued a second victim from a third-story window with help from Marion firefighters inside the building. That victim was taken to another hospital.
A total of 10 apartments in the complex were evacuated, and 11 residents were displaced. The Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents.
The fire was brought under constrol in about 30 minutes, and no firefighters were hurt. Some residents were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
