Authorities say that two inmates at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility inmates have been charged in connection with a 2009 break-in at a North LIberty business.
Records indicate that Lucas J. Pumfrey, 18, and Christopher J. Rios, 19, have each been charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony, for allegedly breaking in to Liberty Door, 900 W. Penn Street, on Oct. 26, 2009.
North Liberty police said the front door of the business was smashed in the burglary, and alcoholic beverages, pocket and hunting knives, an air rifle and firearm ammunition were taken.
Authorities say the vehicle that had been used to commit the robbery was later found abandoned, and a handkerchief seen in surveillance video from the burglary was found nearby.
A DNA test was then conducted on the handkerchief, and results allegedly showed that the DNA profile matched that of Pumfrey.
Rios was implicated as having been at the scene by an individual who did not enter the building, police said.
Pumfrey and Rios were taken to the Johnson County Jail for their initial appearance Tuesday morning. They were later taken back to the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility.
