CEDAR RAPIDS - Two Eastern Iowa companies received financial awards from the Iowa Economic Development Authority on Friday.
Legacy Manufacturing of Marion was awarded tax benefits through the High Quality Jobs Program.
The company is considering building a $7 million facility in the Marion Enterprise Center, the 184-acre business park developed by Marion Economic Development Co. (MEDCO).
Construction of the new 140,000-square-foot facility would start this fall and is expected to be complete by April 2016. It could expand to 320,000 square feet, according to MEDCO.
Legacy Manufacturing makes service and maintenance equipment for the automotive, industrial, contractor, agricultural and marine markets, including lubrication equipment, hoses, hose reels and pneumatic couplers and accessories.
In July, the company requested $880,000 from the city of Marion through tax increment financing.
The expansion would create 10 jobs over the next two years.
Transco Railway Products Inc. in Oelwein was awarded $155,000 in state financial assistance to build a 76,000-square-foot blast and paint facility, according to state documents. The $10.8 million project is expected to create 31 jobs.
Transco Railway Products repairs and refurbishes railcars in the United States and Canada.
