Two men were arrested Wednesday night after Cedar Rapids police officers said they witnessed a drug sale involving around 60 grams of crack cocaine.
Police Lt. Dominic Wibe said officers were on bike patrol on First Avenue SW when they saw a two-subject drug exchange in an alley between Cooters bar, 729 First Ave. SW, and a vacant building.
Officers immediately arrested one man, who was identified as the drug buyer, but the other man, the seller, ran from authorities, Wibe said. The man ran a short distance and threw a baggie filled with about 60 grams of crack cocaine over a fence at the nearby A-1 Rental.
After officers caught the man, he was arrested without a struggle, Wibe said.
Both men will be charged with delivering a controlled substance, he said.
