Two men were placed on immigration hold after being arrested for drug possession at an Interstate 80 rest area near Tiffin Tuesday.
While on duty for a special project, Johnson County deputies noticed Juan Vasquez-Cruz, 24, and Marcos Martinez-Antonio, 19, at the Tiffin rest stop on eastbound Interstate 80 at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies searched the men's vehicle and found a bag of cocaine a hidden compartment. The men also had over $1,400 in cash between them.
Deputies said both men had inconsistent stories about where they were coming from, where they were going and where they lived. Vasquez-Cruz and Martinez-Antonio both admitted they were illegal immigrants and were unemployed.
The men are being charged with Class C felony controlled substance violations.
The two are currently on immigration hold at the Johnson County Jail. Both are also being held on $15,000 cash bonds.
