Police arrested two people after a chasing a stolen car Friday through southeast Cedar Rapids.
Police said the chase started around noon in Wellington Heights and ended a few minutes later when the suspects ditched the car near a house at 3840 Indiandale Circle SE.
No one was injured in the incident.
Sgt. Robert Collins said plain-clothed officers had just been told about a black BMW that had been stolen when they saw someone drive by in it. The officers attempted to pull the car over along Bever Avenue SE, but the driver would not stop.
Collins said the officers lost sight of the car in a hilly residential neighborhood, but saw two men walking in the area that matched the description of the suspects.
Police detained the men and they later admitted to being the people in the stolen BMW.
Officers were still comparing notes about the speeds involved and other traffic violations.
The husband of the car owner, who declined to give his name, said he was thankful to get it back. The car had a broken side mirror and a cracked windshield that it didn't have before, he said.
"I was pretty amazed (when police called to say they had the car)," he said. "We had seen it on Tuesday driving around, but it wasn't our son driving it."
