LINN COUNTY - A phone-call from a farmer worried that someone was trying to steal anhydrous led to a high-speed pursuit and the arrest of two men on drug charges late Friday night.
After a Linn County Sheriff's deputy tried to pull over a van on Linn Ridge Road just north of Mount Vernon, the van accelerated and deputies followed it on to Springville Road from Mt. Vernon. The van then went towards Anamosa on Highway 151 and turned off on Alderman Road.
Deputies headed the van off at County Home Road north of Springville. The suspects then fled from the van on foot and were caught after a brief foot race.
Timothy Feaker, 32, of 2311 Canyon St., is being charged with attempting to elude officials, possession of precursors to make methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and interference with official acts. Feaker is being at held at Linn County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond and a separate $5,000 cash only bond.
Trenton McCleary, 23, of 3734 Stoneview Circle SW, is being charged with possession of a controlled substance and interference with official acts.
Sgt. Mark Strait of the Linn County Sheriff's Office said that no one was injured during the pursuit, but that it's a wonder no vehicles went off the road in such cold and slick driving conditions.
