Two Maquoketa men have been arrested after authorities say they broke into a Maquoketa restaurant Monday morning.
Damien A. Schulze, 19, and Bruce J. Bollinger, 18, both of Maquoketa, are accused of breaking into Flapjacks Family Restaurant and trying to steal a TV, police said. They have been charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar tools and public intoxication.
Police responded to an alarm at the restaurant around 5 a.m. Monday. Schulze and Bollinger were located on the north side of the restaurant and ran when they saw police. They were apprehended about a block away.
Officers found a downstairs window to the restaurant broken out, and believe that is how the men got inside the restaurant. They also found a flat panel TV in the dining area partially removed from its bracket.
Schulze was being held in jail on $9,750 cash bond. Bollinger was released on his on recognizance, police said.
