KAYAKERS BRAVE BIG FREEZE — The National Weather Service issued a warning Monday for Eastern Iowa for wind chills of minus 25 to minus 40 degrees, but at least 10 people were unfazed. HAWKEYE MEN MORE READY FOR BIG TEN ACTION — The last time the Iowa men's basketball team played a Big Ten game, it wasn't pretty. Even if the caliber of teams they've played since hasn't been that high, it's clear Coach Fran McCaffery's team has made improvements. The positives Iowa is seeing now, headed back into conference play against Michigan on Tuesday, weren't seen even against poorly-ranked or regarded teams earlier in the season.
