FIREWORKS FRUSTRATIONS — For nearly a decade, Cedar Rapids business owner Alberto Lacayo III has spent every June and part of July selling fireworks in Missouri to supplement his income. He was overjoyed when a bill expanding the sale of fireworks in Iowa became law last month. He started the application for a state license to sell the newly legal fireworks, but despite his passion for pyrotechnics, Lacayo said he put his plans on hold because of the laborious licensing process. TRUMP RETURNING TO C.R. — President Donald Trump will visit Cedar Rapids after all. The president, who postponed a June 1 rally in Cedar Rapids, announced Monday he'll visit June 21 for a 7 p.m. rally at the U.S. Cellular Center. PILOT TRUCK STOP PROPOSED — A new truck stop is being planned on Interstate 380 at the south edge of Cedar Rapids. Pilot Travel Centers, one of the largest truck stop travel center brands in the country, is working on a location with a restaurant, convenience store and fueling pumps at the northeast corner of Wright Brothers Boulevard and Interstate 380. ARLO BECKER'S 'TREMENDOUS LEGACY' — 'If you can't win, be spectacular.' Those were six words Arlo Becker lived by traveling across Eastern Iowa and beyond to dirt and asphalt racetracks. The legend — who amassed hundreds of wins and many track championships across six decades of racing — died Monday at age 79 after injuries sustained when a tractor he was operating up a steep grade overturned, pinning him to the ground.
