911 CONSOLIDATION PLAN — Marion Police Chief Joseph McHale said he wants to see Marion, Cedar Rapids and Linn County consolidate their Public Safety Answering Points — or PSAPs. To that end, McHale has requested the county's 911 Board fund a feasibility study that will look at consolidation and whether it's a viable option for the county. The board approved the study last month, but not everyone is in agreement that consolidation is the way to go. UI TUITION HIKES OPPOSED — University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld made a pitch Monday to hike resident undergraduate tuition 41 percent over the next five years, but students and lawmakers pushed back — calling the plan 'a failure' and urging the UI to 'go back to the drawing board.'
