Benton County authorities say that a lack of attention was behind a two vehicle crash on Highway 30 just west of the Linn-Benton county line.
A 22-year-old Mount Vernon man was headed east on Highway 30 when he rear-ended a slow moving back-hoe tractor with his truck at around 7:22 p.m. Friday.
Officials would not release the name of the Mount Vernon man, but said he was sent by ambulance to a Cedar Rapids hospital with minor injuries.
“Someone just wasn't paying attention,” said Benton County Sheriff's deputy John Lindaman. “Slow tractors have just as much a right to the road.”
The driver of the tractor, Dean Haerther, 43, of Atkins, was not injured.
The accident is still under investigation.
