Trial reset for Tama County man in wife’s death

TAMA COUNTY - The trial for a Tama man charged in the fatal stabbing of his wife last year was reset last week to Dec. 1 in Tama County District Court.

Dustin Jefferson, 38, was charged with first-degree murder in May, after his mother Ginger Jefferson was convicted of killing his wife Kerry O'Clair Jefferson, 32. According to a criminal complaint, Dustin Jefferson is accused of killing O'Clair Jefferson or aiding and abetting in the crime.

According to testimony during Ginger Jefferson's trial, O'Clair Jefferson died from two stab wounds to her neck Sept. 25, 2013.

If convicted, Dustin Jefferson faces life in prison without parole.

He also faces five counts of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor on May 1, 2013. The trial for those charges is set for Oct. 13. If convicted of those charges, he faces up to 50 years in prison.
