The Aug. 25 trial of former MFL Mar Mac High School teacher Richard Nance, 58, of Cresco, has been removed from the calendar, and “further proceedings” have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 22, according to an order filed Tuesday by Judge Margaret Lingreen.
Nance was arrested May 17 and charged with supplying alcohol to a minor, violation of gun conveyance law and open container. He was later charged with two counts of carrying weapons on school grounds.
Following his arrest, Nance resigned after being told he was going to be fired, MFL Mar Mac Superintendent Dale Crozier said. The district filed a complaint with the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners seeking the permanent revocation of Nance's teaching license.
Nance's teaching duties included men's chorus, women's chorus, mixed chorus and Young Americans, the high school's show choir. He also taught at the district's middle school.
