A trial has been set for May 2011 in Davenport for Texas labor broker Henry's Turkey Service on allegations of labor violations against Iowa workers.
The broker and one of its owners, Kenneth Henry of Proctor, Texas, face a lawsuit from the U.S. Department of Labor for allegedly paying mentally retarded workers 40 cents an hour. The federal lawsuit alleges 37 workers employed at the West Liberty Foods turkey-processing plant in Muscatine County are owed back wages. The workers lived at a bunkhouse in Atalissa.
Henry's Turkey Service has denied the allegations.
Last week a federal judge scheduled the case for Senior Judge Harold Vietor on May 16, 2011, at the Davenport federal court.
