Trial date set for Coralville man accused of sexual abuse

A trial date was set for a Coralville man charged with third-degree sexual abuse.

Kenneth D. Shearon II, 26, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Court documents said  Shearon is scheduled to go to trial on Sept. 7 preceded by a pre-trial conference set for Aug. 26.

According to police records, the first incident occurred in February when the pair saw a movie together. During the feature police said Shearon grabbed the girls hand and placed it on his genitals. Officers said Shearon later invited the 14-year-old girl to his residence where they had sexual intercourse.

Police said the relations spanned from January to April.

Third-degree sexual abuse is a Class C Felony punishable with a maximum $10,000 fine and 10 year prison sentence.
