This weekend, thousands of “Star Trek” fans will descend upon “the future birthplace of Capt. James T. Kirk” during TrekFest XXVI.
Organizers have put out the challenge to break the Guinness World Record for “largest gathering of people dressed as ‘Star Trek' characters.” The record stands at 99; but an unconfirmed report says an event in Germany had more than 500 people try to break the record.
Organizers hope to have at least 1,000 people dressed in “Star Trek” costumes right after the parade, which starts at
10 a.m. Saturday.
Special guests appearing Saturday include Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov), BarBara Luna (Alersa) and James Cawley (Capt. James T. Kirk in “Star Trek: Phase II”).
