One of two men arrested during a traffic stop in Cedar Rapids is wanted for murder in Illinois.
Albert R. Allen, 26, was sought by Dolton, Ill. police in connection with a homicide there, according to a fugitive information filed Wednesday morning in Linn County District Court. Dolton is a suburb on Chicago's near south side.
Allen was the driver of a van stopped by Cedar Rapids police about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Eighth Street NE overpass over Interstate 380.
A passenger, Anthony Horton Jr., 26, of 954 Boston Way, Coralville, was arrested on a Johnson County warrant for false imprisonment, domestic assault, and a probation violation, according to police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin.
Hamblin said officers spotted Allen and knew there was a warrant for his arrest. Allen has a Linn County criminal record, including a 2010 felony drug conviction.
Allen listed 1263 First Ave. SE when booked into the Linn County Jail, where he remains. Assistant Linn County Attorney Nick Maybanks said he'll make a court appearance Thursday morning.
"We're going to ask he be held on no bond, and I'd assume Dolton will come pick him up," said Maybanks.
Dolton Police Sgt. Jim Knapp said the department "doesn't have any information to release yet" on the charges Allen faces.
