A Tiffin man already in jail for robbery now faces additional charges.
Calvin Pearson, 42, of 303 College St., was being held on a $10,000 bond after being arrested on charges from an Oct. 16 robbery at the Coralville Walmart. He remains in the Johnson County Jail Wednesday on a $40,000 bond after being charged for robbing a woman at a rest area on Oct. 17.
Police said Pearson hid at a rest area near Tiffin on Interstate 80, where he followed a woman into the restroom, told her he was robbing her, cut her purse from her arm with a knife and fled.
Pearson also used a credit card from the purse to make purchases at Delimart and Fareway in Iowa City, police said.
David Stratton, 42, was charged with two counts of being an accessory to a felony Monday for driving the getaway car for Pearson in the robberies, according to criminal complaints.
Pearson was also charged with unrelated drug crimes from a year ago for selling crack cocaine to a secret informant who was working with the Johnson County Drug Task Force.
Pearson faces charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, unauthorized use of a credit card, and three counts of delivery of crack cocaine.
