A Tiffin man faces charges after police said he was intoxicated while leading police on a chase.
Early Saturday morning around 1:30 a.m., police were in the 2300 block of Hwy 6 and a vehicle driven by Michael A. Moreno was weaving while traveling at 52 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to police reports. After an officer activated their emergency lights, Moreno, 49, refused to pull over, police said.
Moreno's speed increased, police said, and he eventually pulled over at 705 Second St, but refused to cooperate with officers.
Police said an officer had to tackle Moreno to the ground, causing the officer to need medical attention for a bloody lip and a dislodged tooth. Moreno had bloodshot, watery eyes, and refused field sobriety tests, a breathalyzer, and chemical testing, police said.
Moreno was charged with interference with official acts causing bodily injury, eluding, and operating while intoxicated.
