Three men, all related, are accused of drug-related offenses after authorities say marijuana was delivered to an undercover source on three occasions earlier this year, and was also located at their homes in Tiffin Wednesday morning.
Records indicate that Gary J. Moreno, 49, of 28 East St., and Michael A. Moreno, 51, of 29 East St., allegedly communicated with each other to facilitate and carry out three separate marijuana deliveries to a source working with the Johnson County Drug Task Force.
The first instance was on Jan. 25, when Gary J. Moreno allegedly delivered 1/4 pound of marijuana to a monitored source that came to his home. The second delivery of the same amount occurred on Feb. 10, Johnson County Sheriff's Office records indicate.
Michael A. Moreno allegedly delivered 4.1 ounces of marijuana to a monitored source at the Capri Lodge, 705 Second St., Coralville, on July 6. He allegedly told authorities that he had facilitated the drug transaction because his brother had asked him to.
Narcotics search warrants were executed at Gary J. and Michael A. Moreno's residences as well as at the home of Gary G. Moreno, 24, of 41 East St., at approximately 11:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say they located several harvested and dried marijuana plants inside Gary G. Moreno's residence and approximately 17.8 pounds of marijuana behind a false wall in Gary J. Moreno's bedroom.
Gary J. Moreno was being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $45,000 bond Thursday afternoon. He faces three charges of felony D controlled substance violation and failure to affix a tax stamp. He also faces a probation violation charge.
