Three of the five men hurt in a construction zone crash on Interstate 80 near Oxford in Johnson County Monday have been treated and released from a hospital.
Dean Herberger, 55, of Indianola, Manuel Dominguez, 32, of Des Moines, and Lawrence Schropp, 53, of Parnell have left University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as of this morning. Jack Herberger, 25, of Indianola is listed in good condition. No condition was made available for Gary Green, 45, of Florence, Ky.
The Iowa State Patrol says Green lost control of his semi-trailer truck a few minutes after 11 a.m. yesterday, striking the cement barriers guarding a work zone. Green's rig entered the work area and struck construction equipment, injuring the four construction workers.
Green was airlifted from the scene. The four workers were all transported by ambulance.
According to troopers, the crash is being investigated as a motor vehicle accident. The driver will likely face fines twice as much as a typical construction zone fine due to the wreck, authorities said.
