Ten apply for Sixth District judge post

Four of the 10 applicants to be interviewed next Friday for the vacant Sixth Judicial Judgeship are Cedar Rapids attorneys.
The 10 applicants will be considered by the Nominating Commission to replace Judge Thomas Koehler, who retired last month.
The applicants are:
- Patrick Reinert, Cedar Rapids attorney
- Ian Thornhill, Assistant U.S.District Attorney in Cedar Rapids
- Karen Egerton, Iowa City attorney
- James Moriarty, Cedar Rapids attorney
- Con Garry Williams, Marshalltown attorney
- David O'Brien, Cedar Rapids attorney
- Fred Stiefel, Victor attorney
- Nancy Burk, Toledo attorney
- Paul Miller, Iowa City attorney
- John Robertson, Iowa City attorney
The applicants will be interviewed by the commission members starting 9 a.m. Friday at the Linn County Courthouse. Two nominees will then be selected and submitted to Gov. Chet Culver, who will appoint one as judge within 30 days.
