Two teens have been arrested for an assault on a 54-year-old man that left him with stab wounds, police said.
Trae Finn, 17, of Cedar Rapids, and Christopher Curly, 17, of Lowden, are both facing first-degree robbery charges. They are accused of attacking Matthew Dostal, of Cedar Rapids, in the 1300 block of First Street SW early Sunday morning, police said.
Dostal told police he was walking home from work when he was approached from behind by a male with a knife who asked for money. Three other males then approached Dostal, and they all hit and kicked him several times, police said.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, a police spokeswoman, said Dostal did not realize he had been stabbed until officers arrived. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. He did not have any money or other property stolen.
Finn and Curly were taken to the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center. They are being charged as adults.
The other two suspects remain at-large, but complete descriptions of them were not available. Police are continuing to investigate.
