An 18-year-old pleaded guilty Tuesday in Linn County District Court to threatening a 17-year-old with a gun for some marijuana.
Lucas McMurrin, of Cedar Rapids, who was originally charged with first-degree robbery, pleaded guilty to extortion and going armed with intent. He faces up to five years in prison on each charge.
First Assistant Linn County Attorney Nick Maybanks said according to the plea agreement and if the sentencing judge agrees, McMurrin will serve those terms consecutively for a total of 10 years.
McMurrin was originally charged with first-degree robbery.
Officers were called to Mercy Medical Center's emergency room Jan. 19, for a 17-year-old male being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg, according to a police report.
The 17-year-old first told police he was shot at a mobile home park but then changed his story and said it was an accidental shooting, according to a police report. His injury was minor.
McMurrin told the judge during the plea hearing that he stole marijuana from the 17-year-old while threatening him with a gun.
Sentencing hasn't been set at this time.
