A teenager accused of stealing jewelry from a Coral Ridge Mall kiosk and displaying a knife while being chased entered a written guilty plea to two lesser charges July 26.
According to online court records, Iviontae Jackson, 17, of Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree theft and a charge of assault while using or displaying a weapon.
Coralville police say Jackson took jewelry from J & A Gold and Silver, a kiosk at the Coral Ridge Mall, at about 3:30 p.m. on May 23.
Kiosk employees chased Jackson, who confronted the employees with a knife in the parking lot. Authorities later caught Jackson, recovering both the knife and jewelry.
Jackson is scheduled to be sentenced on September 9.
