Tama County man dies after rollover near Marshalltown

Authorities said it appears speed was a factor in a rollover crash early Monday morning that killed a Tama County man near Marshalltown.

Andrew E. Suchanek, 45, of rural Tama County, died after the single-vehicle crash reported around 1:20 a.m. near the intersection of East Main Street Road and Three Bridges Road, according to the Marshall County sheriff's office.

Investigators determined Suchanek was eastbound in a pickup when he lost control on a curve. Suchanek was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected when the pickup rolled multiple times, authorities said.

Deputies arrived to find the pickup on its side. Suchanek was conscious as deputies began to provide first-aid, according to the sheriff's office, but he was later pronounced dead at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

An investigation was continuing.
