No arrests have been made after a shooting Sunday evening in southeast Cedar Rapids.
Police responded around 7:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of Fifth Avenue SE, when as many as five gunshots were reported. Officers found shell casings and broken glass.
About 15 minutes later, police were notified about a man with a gunshot wound who had arrived at Mercy Medical Center. Malcom Ude, 24, of Cedar Rapids, had been shot once in the left shoulder, police said.
Ude told officers he had stopped a group of three men to ask for directions. One of them pulled out a handgun and shot him, according to the police report. The back window of Ude
's sport-utility vehicle was also shattered.
Police said Ude's injuries were not life-threatening.
A complete description of the suspects was not available, but Ude did tell police all three men were dressed in black. An investigation was continuing.
