Police used a stun gun on a Pennsylvania man and former Iowa Wesleyan College assistant football coach at an Iowa City bar early Saturday after authorities say he refused to leave the location, pushed an officer in the chest and resisted arrest.
Jeremy P. Spinneweber, 31, originally of Washington, Pa., is accused of consumption/intoxication, interference with official acts, disorderly conduct and assault on peace officer and others.
Staff at the Summit Restaurant and Bar, 10 S. Clinton St. called police early Saturday asking to have Spinneweber removed from the location for being disruptive.
Spinneweber allegedly told an officer “no” when he was asked to leave the bar. When askeda gain, Spinneweber again said "no," then pushed the officer in the chest.
He then fought with and resisted officers as they tried to place him under arrest.
Spinneweber was then hit three times with a stun gun until he complied with the officer's directions. He then transported to the Johnson County Jail, where he was later released on a $3,800 cash bond.
According to the Iowa Wesleyan College website, Spinneweber was a former football player at the school and became an assistant coach for their football program during the 2010-2011 season. He is no longer a part of the program.
