DES MOINES – Officials in the state Department of Administrative Services released a personnel settlement Friday in accordance with Gov. Terry Branstad's recent executive order that they say was overlooked in a previous review process conducted last month.
Gov. Terry Branstad announced March 24 that his internal review team had verified that 12 separate state agencies had entered into 24 secret settlement agreements with employees totaling about $500,000 that had occurred without his knowledge. He said called the practice unacceptable and issued executive order 85 to make sure it would not happen again in his administration.
On Friday, DAS officials released a settlement with a former employee of the Iowa Veterans Home that was signed by the DAS Labor Relations Team last month but was overlooked during the review process.
'Since it was brought to the department's attention, it has gone through the necessary redaction process and today is being posted to DAS's website,” according to a DAS statement. 'The personnel settlement contained a confidentiality provision, paid the former employee 38 hours of earned sick leave and was a resignation in lieu of termination.”
The settlement can be found at http://das.iowa.gov/core/Settlement%20Agreements/FY14ConfClause.pdf, according to the DAS news release.
