Startup Weekend Cedar Rapids winners announced

More than 130 people participated in Startup Weekend Cedar Rapids at the Iowa Startup Accelerator.
Ten teams pitched their ideas for a business to a packed house at the event.
Date Brew, an app designed to generate affordable, interesting date ideas for users while also feeding business owners useful data, took first place.
Care Drop, an app designed to provide support and resources to unpaid caregivers, won second place. PrepIt, an app designed to make studying for advance placement examinations more engaging, was awarded third place.
A 54-hour event, Startup Weekend Cedar Rapids brought together designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and experts from all domains to bring ideas to reality. It focused on generating and sharing ideas, creating viable businesses from those ideas, and presenting solutions to real-world issues.
While many of the people who attended Startup Weekend Cedar Rapids had design or technical backgrounds, the teams also included new entrepreneurs and students.
