Splash pad opening Saturday at Iowa City's Wetherby Park

Children will have a new way to cool off this summer. The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department will open its newest water attraction this Saturday, May 29 at Wetherby Park, 2400 Taylor Dr.
The Wetherby Splashpad is a water playground that features 15 water sprays, including an Arch, Magic Mist, Foaming Geyser, Water Jelly, Bucket Trio, Water Tunnel, Umbrella, Fountain Spray, Aquajumper, Spray Cannon, Ground Geyser and a Bollard Activator. The splashpad is touch-activated, and water turns off after a designated period of time.
The Wetherby Splashpad will operate from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Funding for the Wetherby Splashpad was provided by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and the Wetherby and Grantwood Friends and Neighborhood Association fundraisers.
