Solon senior’s family calls ‘homecoming king’ a blessing
Oct. 8, 2010 10:04 pm
Amid the thousands and thousands of people at the Williamsburg-Solon football game, senior Josh Klein was unlike many of his classmates.
Klein, 18, watched the game on a blanket with his parents. Klein was named ‘Homecoming King' for Solon, an honor that his family calls a blessing.
“It's very humbling and a life changing experience,” said Tracy Klein, Josh's father. “The Solon school body and the community that supported our family has just been a blessing. It's something we will cherish for the rest of our life.”
Josh Klein has Down's Syndrome and is a big Solon Spartans football fan. His parents say they have lived in Solon for a dozen years.
Sydney Farnsworth, 17, is a senior at Solon. Klein's father credited Farnsworth with leading the charge to build support for Josh Klein as Homecoming King.
“We just wanted to do something different,” Farnsworth said. “It's always the popular jock or football star and everybody has been close to Josh. We wanted to do something nice for him because he would remember it.”
