A Solon man faces felony criminal mischief charges after allegedly running over mailboxes and street signs.
Police said Brandon J. Anderson, 24, left a party in Shueyville around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and intentionally ran over 16 mailboxes and three stop signs on his 16-mile drive home, according to Johnson County Sheriff's Office criminal complaints.
Officers were unable to catch Anderson during the act, but said some of the objects he struck were left in the oncoming lane of traffic, and according to criminal complaints, Anderson “was kind enough to leave his front license plate alongside one of the damaged posts.”
Police said Anderson's Ford Expedition had major damage and there was a steel mailbox lying on the ground near his driveway. The damage totaled around $1,600, police said.
When confronted about the damaged property, Anderson admitted to driving home alone, according to the complaints. He was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving.
