Snow’s falling — here’s the info you need
Dec. 24, 2010 11:45 am
The flakes are flying around Eastern Iowa this morning, with accumulations as high as 8 to 9 inches reported in some isolated areas.
A large portion of northeast Iowa, including Linn County and points to the north, is under a winter storm warning until 6 p.m. today. Southern counties are under a winter weather advisory, also until 6 p.m.
Tow ban issued
The Iowa State Patrol has issued a tow ban for District 11. That's for interstates and state highways in Linn, Benton, Tama, Iowa, Poweshiek and Johnson counties.
State radio in Cedar Rapids says it is in effect until troopers feel the roads are clear enough for the tow trucks to operate safely on the roads.
Few weather delays at airport
Officials at The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids say they had some minor problems this morning with the snow. But once the runway was cleared they were back on schedule, and some planes are now even arriving ahead of schedule.
