Snow emergency declared for North Liberty, other area communities

NORTH LIBERTY - Winter weather has forced officials in North Liberty to declare a snow emergency, which will expire at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The emergency, which starts at 10 a.m. Monday, was prompted by forecasts of 5-7 inches of snow and a quarter inch of ice, according to a city news release.
With the emergency in effect, parking on streets is not permitted to allow crews room to clear roads of snow and ice.
Vehicles in violation of the ordinance can be ticketed and towed.
Residents also are reminded to clear their sidewalks within 48 hours of a snowfall.
Snow emergencies have also been declared in many other area communities, including Anamosa, Center Point, Solon, Springville and Walker. For a full list of area delays, cancellations and weather nofications, click here.
