Snow, bitter cold on the way this weekend
Dec. 10, 2010 11:24 am
It's not yet certain how much rain and/or snow may fall over parts of Eastern Iowa this weekend, but one thing's pretty much guaranteed: It's going to get cold and windy.
Precipitation is expected to begin falling late tonight or early tomorrow morning, perhaps in the form of rain over south central Iowa and as a mixture over northeast Iowa. But by later in the day, the precipitation from the storm system is expected to switch over to all snow.
And then there's the cold. After a mild day today, temperatures are expected to fall during the day Saturday, and dip well below zero Sunday night and Monday night.
Parts of far northeast Iowa are under a winter storm watch through early Sunday, while a few counties in north central Iowa are under a blizzard watch.
