Smoldering laundry draws fire crews to Coralville Applebee's

A reported fire at the Coralville Applebee's restaurant turned out to be a smoldering laundry container, fire officials said.

Fire crews were called to the restaurant, 200 12th Ave., at 7:13 a.m. Thursday after a report of smoke inside the building. Crews discovered a laundry container smoldering in the kitchen. The container was removed from the building, and fans were used to ventilate the area.

Crews were on scene for about an hour. The building was not yet open for business, and no damage estimate is currently available.
